Hello, I am the PR manager for Rakuzo Utage Akasaka-mitsuke.
Winter is finally in full swing. When it gets cold, don't you feel a strange urge to drink shochu or sake? We have many brands of shochu and sake. Here are some of them and their characteristics.
Tominohozan, produced by Kagoshima Prefecture's Nishi Shuzo, is a potato shochu that turns the negative image of potato shochu as having a distinctive flavor and being difficult to drink upside down. Its refreshing aroma makes it easy to drink, even for shochu beginners.
The sweet potato used for this product is a variety called Kogane Sengan. Only sweet potatoes grown without agricultural chemicals by contract farmers in Kagoshima are used. It is recommended to drink on the rocks or with water.
Even if you are not familiar with Japanese sake, you have probably heard of the Ottersai brand. It is a brand that is so delicious that it is in short supply and can be called a mirage. The Ottersai dassai is made from dassai rice, which was traditionally considered unsuitable for sake brewing. The Asahi Shuzo brewery's attention to detail and skill in making Otters is what gives the sake its unique bright and smooth taste.
This sake is made by a long-established sake brewery that will soon be 300 years old. The Honjozo Urakasumi in particular has won numerous awards in recent years. It is characterized by its gorgeous, fruity aroma and elegant taste.
The aroma is especially noticeable when drunk lukewarm. It is a sake to be savored carefully in winter.
