In recent years, with the diversification of food, imported foods, and improvements in greenhouse cultivation technology, it has become possible to enjoy a variety of foods at any time of the year, regardless of the season. However, as we live in Japan with its four seasons, we still want to eat foods with a sense of seasonality at the right time of year! Here are some of our recommended spring dishes.
Sakuraebi is not a dish that can be eaten all year round. Except for two seasons, spring and fall, it is considered a closed season and cannot be enjoyed at other times. Of course, dried sakura shrimps, for example, are available all year round. However, "sakura shrimps sashimi 680 yen (excluding tax)" like the one served at our restaurant can only be enjoyed during the current season! Take this opportunity to try it!
The clear, bright cherry blossom color of the sakura shrimp sashimi will whet your appetite. One bite will give you a very flavorful taste. For this reason, this dish is a perfect match for refreshing cold sake or shochu (Japanese liquor), which has less unwanted flavors, rather than beer or cocktails.
