Shichi-Go-San in a little while! We looked into Shichi-Go-San. | Rakuzo Hiroshima Chuo Dori

Hello, I am the PR person in charge of Rakuzo Hiroshima Chuo Dori Store.

How is everyone doing in this frosty month of chrysanthemums?

Some time in November, you will see girls in beautiful kimonos and boys in crisply dressed kimonos visiting shrines with their parents.

Shichi-Go-San.

In this issue, we looked into why Shichi-Go-San is held in November.

Origin of Shichi-Go-San

On November 15, when they are 3, 5, and 7 years old, they thank the Ujigami Shrine for their safe growth and wish for their future growth.

Although there were celebrations for 3, 5, and 7 year olds during the Heian period (794-1185), it was during the Edo period (1603-1868) that the date of November 15 was decided.

It began as a prayer for the health of Tokumatsu, the eldest son of the fifth shogun, Tsunayoshi Tokugawa, on November 15.

In honor of Tokumatsu, who is growing up safely, it seems that November 15 was chosen as the day of Shichi-Go-San.

Parents always wish for the safe growth of their children, don't they?
