Discover New Pairings of Japanese Cuisine and Fine Wine Through Unexpected Combinations

Hello. I’m the PR representative for Rakuzo Utage, the Nagoya Sakae Nishiki-dori branch, where every seat is in a private room.

We’ve entered the season when the midsummer sun beats down day after day. During this time of year, when humid, sweltering heat envelops the city, many of you are probably looking forward to refreshing your mind and body in a cool, air-conditioned space. Today, we’d like to invite you to experience unexpected pairings of drinks and dishes in the private, fully-separated dining rooms we’re so proud of. Why not come discover new flavors that go beyond the usual combinations?

The harmony between the rich, savory flavor of motsunabe and a crisp, refreshing bowl of soup

At our restaurant, we offer hot pot dishes that highlight the unique characteristics of their ingredients, such as the “White Offal Hot Pot Course” and the “Taiwanese Offal Hot Pot Course.” While offal hot pot is typically known for its rich broth and the sweetness of its fat, we encourage you to pair it with the crisp, refreshing drinks included in our all-you-can-drink plan. This pairing, which washes away the lingering richness of the fat and makes each subsequent bite taste even more vivid, is a continuous series of new discoveries. Comprising eight courses in total, these set menus are designed to fully highlight the contrast between the heat of the hot pot and the coolness of the drinks. The tranquil atmosphere of our private rooms allows you to savor the nuances of each bite at your own pace, expanding the joy of discovering your own perfect balance.

A Fusion Course That Showcases a Range of Flavor Contrasts

As the name suggests, the “Japanese-Western Fusion Course” is a luxurious eight-course meal that blends different culinary cultures. The interplay between the delicate flavors of Japanese dashi and the rich Western sauces and cooking techniques greatly expands the range of wine pairings. For example, pairing a slightly full-bodied drink with a dish that has strong Japanese elements, and a lighter drink with one that has strong Western elements—adjusting your drink choices as the course progresses—will significantly enhance your dining experience. By taking advantage of our premium all-you-can-drink plan, which features approximately 100 varieties, you can even seek out the perfect drink to accompany each individual dish. The time spent experimenting with pairings with a free and open mind—unbound by preconceptions—is sure to serve as a wonderful spark to liven up conversation, whether during a business dinner or a meal with someone special.

Exploring Wine Pairings in the Privilege of a Private Room

Our restaurant features a variety of private rooms of all sizes, accommodating groups from 2 to 40 guests. When exploring food and wine pairings, it’s essential to have an environment where you can focus on the aromas of the food and drinks without worrying about those around you. Our private rooms with sunken kotatsu tables allow you to stretch out and relax, so you won’t feel tired even during long banquets. In addition, our table-style private rooms are ideal for entertaining clients and business occasions, and their sophisticated ambiance further enhances the dining experience. Slowly pairing dishes that reflect the changing seasons—such as our Four Seasons Kaiseki Course—with drinks tailored to your current mood in a private setting: this luxurious experience is the greatest value our restaurant offers. We invite you to discover new flavors all your own in the private room of your choice.
