This page explains the "Denki Bran Highball" offered at our restaurant! | Rakuzo Okayama Honmachi

Hello, I am the PR person in charge of Rakuzo Okayama Honmachi Store.

Out of the blue, have you ever heard of an alcoholic beverage called "Denki Bran"?

This cocktail was originally created in Asakusa, Tokyo, and we have a highball that makes use of it!

In this issue, we will introduce a drink called "Denki Bran," which is a bit of a mystery, given its name.

Denki Bran" gained popularity in the Meiji Era

Denki Bran was created in Asakusa, Tokyo, in 1893 as a brandy-based cocktail. The existence of electricity was rare at the time, and in honor of this, the name "Denki" was added to the product name and the word "brandy" was combined behind it to create the name "Denki Blanc.

Denki Bran is characterized by its slightly sweet taste with a bilious and pungent texture. Its taste has been synonymous with Asakusa since the Meiji era.

The "Denki Bran Highball" is recommended for the younger crowd!

It is considered "chic" to drink Denki Bran straight, but the alcohol content of Denki Bran is high (30% or 40%), so those who are not strong drinkers or are not frequent drinkers may not like it.

However, the "Denki Bran highball," which is made by pouring soda into Denki Bran and gently stirring it, has become widely accepted by younger people who prefer lower alcohol content. When served in a highball, you can enjoy the deep, gorgeous aroma and refreshing sensation that is unique to Denki Bran.

Rakurakuoka Yamamoto-cho, where you can enjoy these "Denki Bran Highballs", is located a 3-minute walk from the east exit of Okayama Station. We are open year-round, so please feel free to visit us.
