Hello, I am the PR person in charge of Rakuzo Shinjuku East Exit Store.
This is a bit sudden, but do you all like to drink?
I love it!
I especially like shochu, and did you know that here at Rakuzo Shinjuku East you can enjoy a special kind of shochu?
Today we would like to introduce you to their special shochu!
The first one is Enma, a barley shochu!
The bright red label gives it a mellower mouthfeel and deeper flavor than one would expect from its bright red label.
It is the maturation process that creates it.
After being prepared as a raw sake, Enma is aged in white oak casks for at least three years before it is released to the market.
That rich flavor is nurtured during that aging process.
It is an amazing sake that has now won the Monde Selection top gold medal for eight consecutive years, from 2010 to 2017!
The next shochu to be introduced is the sweet potato shochu Mitake!
In fact, I first encountered this Mitake sake when I visited Yakushima on my first solo trip during the summer vacation of my senior year of college.
Mitake, brewed with natural water from Yakushima Island, which has been selected as a World Heritage site, has an exceptionally clear flavor.
It is easy to drink, yet has an aromatic sweetpotato aroma. It is the best sweetpotato shochu liqueur!
Here it is! It is a rice shochu called "Torikai".
It is probably one of the most popular rice shochu, and is probably one of the most popular shochu among rice shochu.
Its flavor is soft and rich, and could be described as a fruity ginjo sake.
This easy-to-drink shochu is perfect for first-time drinkers!
The brown sugar shochu called "Rento" is made on Amami-Oshima Island, an unusual name, don't you think?
In fact, this sake is made using a unique process called "acoustic aging," in which music is played during the production process.
The name seems to be derived from the musical term "Lento," meaning "gently, slowly," as it is aged "slowly" by applying sound vibrations.
This shochu has a mild and rich aroma.
Awamori "Zanami Black" has long been known by the nickname "Zankuro.
It is widely loved in its hometown of Okinawa, and is characterized by its crisp, thick taste that is inherent to black malted rice.
The brewery is a long-established business founded in 1948, and has many local fans based on the philosophy of making sake that people love.
It has a good balance between a mellow aroma and a robust flavor, making it easy to drink for first-timers!
We have introduced mainly shochu this time, but we offer a variety of other alcoholic beverages in addition to shochu.
We invite you to visit the store and actually select your sake.
