In addition to our year-round menu, we also offer a limited time-only menu as "Seasonal Recommendations". This time, we would like to introduce a special dish using eggplant. This is a limited-time-only menu that will become unavailable as the seasons change. Don't miss it!

Eggplant that can be eaten raw

The "Grilled Eggplant with Meat Miso" that appears in our seasonal specials is very particular about the type of eggplant used. It uses "higomurasaki" from Kumamoto Prefecture, a rare type of eggplant that is said to be edible raw. Higo mrasaki is about one size larger and longer than most eggplants.30cmIt grows to about the same size. What makes it unusual is not only its apparent size, but also the fact that it is very tender and has little acridity.

It absorbs a lot of the flavor of the meat!

When the higo masaaki is heated, it becomes meltingly tender. As you will see when you try our "Miso-Yaki Eggplant", it has no peculiar taste and absorbs a lot of the flavor of juicy meat. Once you try it, you will not be satisfied with other yaki eggplants made with eggplant!
